About Our School

About Our School
Where are we?

We are located in St Arnaud, which is a small village situated at the northern end of the Southern Alps. The school is very close to Nelson Lakes National Park, and we sometimes take walks in the Nelson Lakes National Park and the Mainland Island. Black Valley Stream runs along one border of the school.

The school has two classrooms and a library, as well as a playing field, tennis/basketball court, playground and swimming pool. The swimming pool is solar heated so it can be used from October to April. School students range from new entrants to year 8.

Mission Statement
"To develop in each student a strong sense of physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being. To enable them to develop academic and cultural abilities to their fullest potential. To foster self-esteem, individuality, tolerance and co-operation".

Playgroup
Once a week (currently Wednesdays) the preschoolers from the area meet at the Community Hall for Playgroup. The Community Hall is next door to the school and has a playground and sandpit. Older brothers and sisters enjoy going over to visit their siblings and their younger friends.

The children enjoy activities at the Lake Rotoiti Playgroup
